The Nez Perce Tribe has developed and approved Tribal Laws/Code Nez Perce Tribal Code § 4-6-4 (2012) Creation of Registries (a) Sex Offender Registry. There is hereby established a sex offender registry, which the Nez Perce Tribal Police shall maintain and operate pursuant to the provisions of this Code, as amended. (b) Public Sex Offender Registry Website. There is hereby established a public sex offender registry website, which the Nez Perce Tribal Police or designee shall maintain and operate pursuant to the provisions of this Code, as amended.
Chief Harold Scott has directed a team of two Officers and one civil Officer to establish state of the art registries to assist the SORNA program and update the code with current provisions to include federal law changes and updates. This program will provide a layer of protection on the Nez Perce Reservation and all the communities within the Federal boundaries.
Sex Offenders are required to register or update their existing records with the Nez Perce Tribal Police Department immediately if currently residing here or merely entering the lands and within 24 hours of any other reason for being within our jurisdiction.
